Meet Maria Espinosa, Senior Sales & Marketing Manager, Kings Doral, FL

You would be hard-pressed to find anyone else who knows more about Event Planning and Event Sales in Miami than our own Maria Espinosa. Her family arrived to the city from Cuba when she was just 11 months old - so Maria considers herself to be a true Miami native having lived there (almost) her entire life.  Her father ventured into the restaurant industry as a Chef in the 1960s, eventually opening his own event space in the 1970s.  Maria worked for the family business in High School and College, assisting in booking and coordinating events while getting her education.  This experience undoubtedly shaped Maria’s two biggest passions: family & throwing amazing parties! She initially planned to go to law school (as she is also incredibly passionate about helping people) and after graduating from Miami Dade College with her Paralegal Certification, Maria found herself drawn back to the world of hospitality where she began a long standing career in Event Sales, starting at the Doral on the Ocean Hotel.  
When you talk to Maria for the first time, whether in person or over the phone, you know immediately that you couldn’t be in better hands or find a better person to help bring your vision to reality.  She not only exudes expertise, having over 35 years experience in event planning, but you get a sense that she is excited to know you and be a part of your experience. Regional VP of Operations, Leo Neves, sums up Maria perfectly - “Maria does not only understand sales but sales specifically in Miami. She knows what it takes to make our guests feel comfortable and book events. She knows how to make sure that no matter if its a kid’s party or a full facility buyout that everyone feels like a VIP.”   This rings true beyond group functions at Kings, as Maria genuinely thinks of every guest at Kings as a member of the family and it is her mission to make you feel that way! 
With the majority of Maria’s event experience having been in traditional event spaces and hotels, she was intrigued by the opportunity to work at Kings.  She was approached by the GM who opened the Doral location in May 2017 .  The GM at the time knew of Maria and her family as local experts in the events and hospitality industry and he asked if she would be interested in helping to open this location.  She admits that she was unsure of the “challenge” this presented as she was accomosted to more conventional event spaces - however; once she saw the venue and spent some time training at our Boston locations - she was hooked! She gladly accepted the challenge and now one of her favorite things about her job is helping our guests envision their perfect event - whether it’s a birthday celebration or a full-facility corporate holiday party - and how it fits perfectly within the Kings concept of dining and entertainment.
Maria often talks about how much she enjoys the diversity that our Doral location brings which has allowed her to continue to learn about her community.  This appreciation and understanding of her community translates into her ability to create a myriad of amazingly different and diverse events in our unique Doral venue.  She is always able to see the bigger picture and stops at nothing to work with her Kings family to create and execute memorable events.
When asked what is most rewarding about working at Kings, Maria stated, “The Kings family! We have such an amazing team of leaders.  My hobbies and interests revolve around my passion and love for my family.  I feel blessed in the joy I have with both my personal and work family.”
When Maria isn’t creating beautiful displays for events within Kings, she can often be found personalizing and decorating events for friends and family. (Maria is also responsible for the gorgeous design touches to our updated patio in Doral!) She also loves spending time with her family, especially her Granddaughters - they can often be found out on the water, enjoying Doral’s amazing weather year-round!
