Five Reasons Why Guests Love Kings Timed Bowling
What is timed bowling?
Bowling has been ubiquitous in America since automatic pinsetters made it a national darling in the early 1960’s. As a matter of fact, the earliest bowlers can be traced back to around 5,000 BC. Of course, it’s a little different nowadays, but there are generally two ways to play and pay for bowling – Paying per game and paying for ''time'' at the lanes. Timed bowling is when guests pay for an allotted amount of time on the lanes to bowl, whereas guests who choose to pay per game will receive just that – a set amount of games . Seems simple enough; however, the pros and cons vary and can greatly affect the gaming experience when you choose to grab your shoes, head to the lanes and try to knock down all those pesky pins.
Why does Kings charge for bowling by time?
1. More Cost Effective
One of the major advantages is that timed bowling usually comes out to be more cost effective than paying for each game outright. Sometimes it may be hard to translate “game” value into “time” value, but you definitely will have the best experience with Kings timed bowling compared to those other bowling venues. Added benefit of timed bowling? Shoe rental is included! (Unlike the typical charge for shoe rental when paying per game).
I’m sure by now you have some additional questions, such as what are Kings’ timed bowling rates? How long is a typical game? Do you pay by the hour? How does it all work? Let’s take a look:
Sun-Thu – $16 Per Player (Learn how you can save even more with our Weeknight Warrior Special)
Fri-Sat– $18 Per Player
Sun-Thu – $16 Per Player
Fri-Sat – $23 Per Player
Add 30 minutes for $7 Per Player
The duration of your play time depends on the size of the party. So if you have 1-2 guests you will get 1 hour of play time. Then:
With 3-4 Players: 1 Hour 15 Mins
With 5-6 Players: 1 Hour 30 Mins
With 7-8 Players: 1 Hour 45 Mins
At Kings, up to 8 players can fit on a lane and it typically takes 10 minutes to bowl a 10 frame game for 1 person. For example, if you have 4 players, it usually takes about 40 minutes to complete one game.
Of course, if you forget to bring a pair of socks we have you covered for $3.00/pair and these are yours to keep!
2. “Unlimited” bowling
Another benefit to timed bowling, or as Kings likes to call it: “Unlimited Bowling”, is that you get to bowl as many games as you can within the allotted time purchased. Finished your first game? Go ahead and bowl another, and another… until your time runs out. Since you are paying for time rather than a game, it’s up to you to capitalize on the time given and get your reps in!
3. Answers the dreaded “how many games should we play?” question
Well, if you’re like me, I always have to play 3 games. It’s the perfect amount of games if you’re a competitive person. What if your friend wins the first game, then you beat them during the second game? Obviously, There has to be a tie breaker game to decide who the ultimate winner is. The advantage to timed bowling is you can bowl as many games as you can and have fun until your time runs out.
4. It allows you to plan your day
With so many things to do in your town, it's sometimes hard to find time to do it all! Time is our most precious commodity and something you can’t ever get back. Luckily when it comes to timed bowling, guests are able to plan their day accordingly so they can maximize their fun. By knowing the amount of time you will have on the lanes, it allows you to factor it into your daily intenaries. You can even book a reservation to ensure that you don’t deviate from your busy plans.
5. It gets you on the lanes faster
Since guests are playing based on time, as operators we are able to know more precisely when lanes will become free and can accurately quote wait times for you, our guests. This allows you to get the fun started more quickly! When purchasing bowling “by game” instead of by time, there’s no telling how long guests will be on the lanes, making wait times a very inexact science.
The fact of the matter is that different groups bowl at different paces. So if two groups of guests were to play one game of bowling, it might take one group 45 minutes while the other could take up to an hour and half. With this uncertainty, it makes purchasing bowling by the game a little more complex for the guests to figure out when and how long it will take to enjoy their experience at Kings. Don’t worry though, if there is a wait, there are plenty of other things to do at Kings to pass the time before your lanes are ready. Don't forget, you can even plan ahead and make a Dine Then Bowl Reservation so your group can dine in our lounge first and then have access to the next available lanes when you are finished eating.
So why wait? Start planning your experience at Kings today and let us help you create memories!
