Meet William Sheridan - Director of Employee Communication and Development for Kings Bowl America
Bill was born in Long Island, NY and grew up outside of Boston in Westford, MA. While he went to school to study Engineering as well as Business Management, at UMASS Lowell and the Wentworth Institute of Technology, Bill has happily been in the restaurant/catering industry since he was 15 years old, his experience spanning over 30 years and with many notable companies. His true passion lies in working with people, helping them develop into their full potential, and providing an unmatched guest service experience, no matter where he is.
Bill came to Kings in 2013 after over 15 years with the Back Bay Restaurant Group working in well know restaurants like Papa Razzi and Joe’s American Bar and Grill. Throughout his tenure with BBRG, Bill moved through the ranks of General Manager to Regional Manager and then onto Director of Human Resources, overseeing 30 plus restaurants and concepts in the company. When Bill joined the Kings Brands, he was hired as the General Manager for our Burlington location and joined the Kings team just as we were opening our Lynnfield - Market St location. This gave Bill the opportunity to begin training and work with our opening training teams. While spending time in Lynnfield, Bill was able to see and work within the culture Kings created with its management teams and staff. After a career-long search, Bill’s passion for development was finally matched seeing the growth of the leadership within the Kings Brand.
On April 13th, 2014, Kings suffered a loss when a fire destroyed the highly-anticipated Burlington location just a day before staff orientation was scheduled. Suddenly, Bill’s focus was directly on the staff of nearly 200 who needed to know what happened, and needed help with job placement. Bill worked tirelessly with the senior leadership team to find placement for all of its team members in either the other 3 Kings locations within MA or within our sister company’s restaurants. Bill’s priority has always been the team, something that has been highly revered by not just the staff, but also his peers.
With the delay of Burlington, Bill was given the opportunity to work at Kings’ sister company “The Lyons Group” and became the General Manager for Towne Stove & Spirits in the heart of Back Bay. Bill worked with Chef Lydia Shire and the team to operate the well-known and highly regarded upscale restaurant for nearly two years. The short time Bill spent with the teams in Kings had a lasting impact. Before long Bill was back to take on a vital role with the Kings Brands once again.
With his extensive background in HR and employee communications, Bill was offered the Role of Director of Employee Communication and Development, a newly created and vital role for the growing company. Bill would work alongside the Kings Recruiting and HR team to strengthen training, development and hiring. His strengths in rolling out new company initiatives, supporting the development and training of our management teams and staff, and passion for individual development and growth is exactly what Kings was looking for with this important role. With the successful launch and roll out of our KMIT (Kings Manager in Training) program, Bill has been able to help solidify our hiring and development of Managers throughout our Kings brands. Successfully helping recruit, train, and integrate new management into the Kings culture to ensure their fit within our company is something Bill was a natural at.
The growth and development of our brand wouldn’t be obtainable without the most dedicated leaders in the industry. Bill’s ability to see the best in people and help them reach their potential within our company is something special. With un-matched guest service, and the best in industry leadership, Bill’s guidance and dedication will continue to have a positive impact in the growth and success of our growing organization.
When Bill is not traveling in between our locations or at the Kings America World Headquarters, you can find him spending time with his wife Kristen, their three kids Patrick, Jacob, and Emma, as well as their two dogs Bentley and Boondock.
